About Playing Online Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the oldest and most love card games in the world and most NZ online casinos have multiple versions of this game available. You can play blackjack online either in the real cash mode or in the free play mode and this is a game that you can play either instantly in your browser or from within a casino download client.

Most blackjack varieties are really easy to play and you can generally place a bet from as little as NZ$1.00 up to in some cases as much as NZ$5,000 or NZ$10,000 per hand. The average blackjack hand is normally over in just a couple of seconds and the only person that you play against is the dealer.

More About Blackjack

When you play online blackjack at any NZ online casino, you can find single hand & multihand versions, as well as live dealer blackjack and even progressive blackjack. When you visit any Microgaming powered online casino, keep an eye out for some of their most famous blackjack varieties such as Atlantic City Blackjack, Atlantic City Blackjack Gold Series Multihand and European Blackjack Gold Series.

Some of their other popular blackjack games include Classic Blackjack, Spanish Blackjack and European Blackjack Redeal Gold. Altogether Microgaming has produced more than 40 individual blackjack varieties. Although Playtech has developed less than ten individual blackjack games, theirs are equally as popular. Playtech’s main blackjack games include Blackjack, 21 Duel Blackjack, Blackjack 5 Hand, Progressive Blackjack, Blackjack Surrender and Perfect Blackjack.

The aim of this game is quite straightforward. Both you and the dealer will initially be dealt two cards and the aim is to try and get as close to 21 points as possible. Each card is worth its face value, apart from the Ace, which is worth either 1 point or 11 points. The J, Q and K are all worth 10 points. The best possible hand is 21 and this can be achieved with your first two cards when you are dealt a 10 and an Ace (10 + 11). This is called a natural blackjack and unless the dealer is dealt the same as you, you will win the hand.

If the dealer ends up with the same amount as you, the game will end in a tie, which is also known as a push, and when this happens you will simply receive your stake back. There are certain in-play options such as being able to ‘hit’ (take another card) or stand (stay with the current hand) and once you have finished making your choice it will be the dealers turn.

The dealer usually has to draw to all 16s and stand on all 17s and when you win (without a natural blackjack), you will receive double your stake whereas blackjack generally pays 3:2.
